IMPORTANT UPDATE for ILLINOIS POLICYHOLDERS
On July 14, 2017, Governor Rauner declared the counties of Cook, Kane, Lake, and McHenry to be state disaster areas.

To help provide safeguards and to ensure that Illinois consumers affected by this disaster do not suffer unnecessary hardship, Lighthouse Casualty and other insurance companies will not be issuing cancellation or non-renewal notices to any existing affected policyholders in Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties for the period of time beginning July 12, 2017 until September 30, 2017.

During this period, any cancellation or non-renewal notice issued on any in-force policy issued to an affected policyholder or respecting affected property shall be withdrawn and the insurance policy will be reinstated with no lapse in coverage.

New Illinois minimum limits under Section 7-203 of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code

(625 ILCS 5/7-203)

Effective 1-1-2015, the minimum motor vehicle liability coverage for bodily injury in Illinois has been increased from $20,000 per person/$40,000 per accident and property damage liability of $15,000 per accident to the new bodily injury liability limits of $25,000 per person/$50,000 per accident and property damage limit of $20,000 per accident.
